The Future of the Transatlantic Relationship ft. the Rt. Hon. Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, Edie Lush and Professor Inderjeet Parmar

BAP’s opening event for 2019 promises to be an intellectually stimulating discussion that brings diverse voices together to explore the future of the transatlantic relationship.

The Rt. Hon. Lord Robertson of Port Ellen leads the high profile panel event at the prestigious Chatham House, assessing the present state of the US-UK relationship - and its future. The discussion will take stock of the transatlantic relationship by exploring the recent divergence of UK and US policies, as well as areas where the two countries continue to nurture close cooperation.

How will Brexit impact one of the world's most enduring strategic alliances? Does President Trump's disengagement from international organisations make Britain's international role more important, or cast it adrift? And with the potential for greater economic cooperation on the horizon, what will changing UK and US attitudes to values, culture and the environment mean for the special relationship?

The panel discussion and networking reception will be the first of two collaborative events with Chatham House. The listed building was home to three prime ministers (William Pitt the Elder, Edward Stanley and William Gladstone). Chatham House was named Think Tank of the Year in 2017 by the University of Pennsylvania’s annual Global Go To Think Tank Index, and consistently ranks highly in the index.
